The future is super serial

Or something.

I’ve decided that the world needs more serialized fiction and I don’t want to contribute to the ugly monstrosities that are major headaches like Amazon and its ilk. That said, I’ll probably share the serialized novels I want to create here and then go from there. The digital versions will always be free because I believe in fair and open digital ownership, even as more and more services try to yank that particular rug out from underneath us. Just because something is digital doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have the right to access it as much as you need to, or move it to wherever is best for you. That’s some of the things I like about the fediverse so much and I want to embrace that spirit in my writing.

Print copies will probably be created with Draft2Digital unless I find another suitable method, they will allow for sales from platforms such as Barnes & Nobles and Amazon KDP, but that will only be for print copies. I will hopefully be able to store and share the files directly in my posts from my writing archive I’m hosting on github and then I should also be able to set up D2D to share them directly to many of your favorite digital bookshops, (Still free!) such as Smashwords, etc.

These are just some of the ideas that I’ve been toying with as I’ve been writing and rewriting things and deciding how I want to go about sharing that work with the wider world. I know things are always changing in the world of indie publishing but I think these are solid steps to being able to keep up with those changes for a while to come. Worst case scenario, I drop print publishing from my goals and then just share as much writing as I can with the world before it inevitably ends in a fiery explosion. I sure hope I’m not around for a couple of billion years. I’m already feel these past thirty ones something fierce these mornings haha!

So, now that I’m back to work on things more fully, I hope to share more writing updates and words with you all soon.

Be well,

Will
